Min is a daily drive, on the motorway I acheive between 33-35 Mph consistantly, however there are a few things to point out:

1) 99RON fuel is essential, if you not use it you will always get less MPG

2) Mine is an 06 when I had a MY01 it did nowhere near that in MPG I belive by reading on here anything after MY04 was more frugal with the fuel.

Only had mine a few months, but am keeping a mileage/fillup log comprehensively, along with how hard the car was driven.

She gets from 19 - 31 mpg. 19 was literally just hooning it around stop/start areas, roundabouts in MK and country roads, and 31 was a mostly long distance A road/M-way drive, though all the A-Road acceleration was *hard*.

I suspect, in my MY08, I would get around 33-34 if I drove relatively gently, and maybe a little higher with all the really hard-work tricks like trying to coast forever etc.

Hi All,

Currently own a FD RX7 and a VW Bora TDi daily hack, but have recently been having thoughts of chopping in both cars to get a S2k and free up a few thousand to pay off a lump of debt (partly due to rebuild of the RX7 before anyone asks )

However I car share for work and have to do 110miles 2/3 times a week. Have read that the S2k can manage 35mpg at a push driven softly, but how true is this in the real world? Will it ever actually see this sort of mpg figure?

Other than that, have answered most queries by having a look around the forum, and will continue to do so as its giving me lots of ideas for if i do end up with a S2k of my own

Thanks very much in advance for any help

Cheers,
Alex
I've had two rx7's and i can safely say you will miss the rx7. I'm considering going back to an rx7.

In terms of daily driver the S will handle it no bother and you'll find your own driving style to get the best mpg, if thats the main consideration.

If/when you decide to test the water with a possible rx7 sale drop me a PM

Ahhhh i've pretty much always had Hondas but i did have a stint with the Rotary engine! I had an FC3S Turbo II RX7. Let me tell you now you'll get more mpg in an S easy! lol

I use mine for absoloutly everything and im able to get around 100 miles from 20 pounds of Shell V power. Thats combined motorway and town. However thats also softly driven with very little or no "popping 'tec" if i give it the beans you can knock 20 miles off that figure easily.

80 miles a day for me. Half and half motorway and A-roads and average 30mpg driving briskly. Can get 32mpg from a tank when it's wet out.

Thanks all again for the replies, has given me what i was hoping for really, with my quote 35mpg i was realistically working on a 30mpg average which ties in with what most of you are saying

Knoopler/leggy; FD isnt a daily driver so mpg not really a concern what was getting to me was having to worry about tax/mot/insurance/tyres/brakes etc etc for two cars. RX7 just costs far too much per mile driven for me to justify keeping it with current circumstances unfortunately. I dare say i'll be back in one when my situation improves though as i absolutely love them

As far as the FD is concerned have it going into the bodyshop to have front wings changed (rust problems where paint has cracked when they were rolled) and possibly few touchups done, when it comes out i'll probably look at selling it

Now just to continue looking around here and try to get a drive of a S2000 at a dealer before i commit 100% to selling the RX7.

Thanks again all for help, your input really is appreciated as has reassured me im not jumping into something thats going to be the end of me as it were

I used to do 92 miles a day in mine... 5 days a week...

I get around 250-280 miles a tank :|

it was quite expensive.

Very nice mate!

I'm sure someone near to you would arrange a test drive, in exchange for a run in the FD. Just mind take it easy on them, they may never want to drive their S again lol

Any members in the Banbury or Newbury/Reading area willing to just take me out even would be good, wouldnt expect to be let to drive it (half the reason i was going to go to a dealer was so that dont have the awkwardness of driving someone elses car heh)

RX7 is a 12 second car so pretty nippy in fairness though if they dont want to drive their S afterwards that works can swap
