Default S2K or RX7

Hi Guys,

I have an S2K (2002 model) and am thinking of changing it for a Mazda RX7.

I know the RX7 has stopped production (Aug' 2002) but I can get access to some left at dealers in Japan - any comments?

Quite frankly, I think my driving style is better suited for a turbo car and the Rx7 has two!

Cheers,

Z.,

I went head to head (mid-range) with an RX7 and was flat out in 2nd and 3rd and he just kept pulling. I just like the instant power whereas the S2K needs throttling to get the power.

The RX8 has little more bhp than the S2K. It remains however a possibility as it has 4 doors but no turbo!

Still pondering possibilities!

I nearly bought an RX7, it's a great looking motor and it's quicker than the S2K. The trouble is it's beset with engine problems. I don't know anyone who's had or got one who hasn't spent lots of time off the road and you're looking at spending big big bucks when it breaks which they tend to.

I don't think it's biggest fans would argue with the foregoing so just be really careful!

Thanks, the engine is certainly know for is heavy petrol consumption.
I was thinking of buying new to avoid possible engine / turbo problems.

RX7 is quite a bit quicker than an S2000, there are tons here and if one pulls alongside I just let it whistle by

don't like the image though, most are black with jolly rodger stickers on the bumpers and the drivers wear bandanas to fit the overall pirate impression

Why dont you get a Supercharger or even go the turbo route on an S2000 trust me the S is a much nice car overall and it will hold its re-sale value when you sell it "to get another S2000"
It does'nt matter whether you get a brand spankin new one or a nearly new RX7 the Apex seals blow on them when they feel like it, giving them the unreliable tag! if you have quite a bit of spare money get the rotary engine re-built with extra heavy duty seals.
Or even simpler just go a buy an S2000 it will be the best decission you ever made .

I already have an S and want a little more power and speed. Agreed, the insurance for an RX7 will be heavy!
