http://www.abi.org.uk/carinsurance/help.asp#GroupType

the S is 20D

factors like repair expense will of course play a part in making the car group 20 as will lack of standard TC etc.. but then insurers may well apply their own modifiers based on us lot binnin em all the time

Was told when i was insuring that the fact why insurance is pricer for younger drivers is due to the fact that most under 40 have hit the hedge lol

3rd party ECUs, such as the Mugen, don't have an immobiliser.

It is a simple job to remove and replace an ECU.

Not quite the full story Steven;

There are two immobolisers in the S > 01, one in the ECU and the other as part of the aftermarket Honda bodge that they installed for the UK market. The Honda bodge unit is disarmed via the key fob, the ECU unit is disarmed via the chip in the key (little green key lit in dash).

Myself and Jorge spent some time playing with this with his limitted edition Honda laptop giving us the diagnostics on a selection of S's So even with an aftermarket ECU there is still an imoboliser in the car.

Not everyone buys cars with the POS Honda UK alarm in it.

that was scov IIRC and they broke into his house and stole the keys

It was a lime green one too, easy to blend one of them into the rest of the traffic on the road I think it was dumped for potential retreival later

I see what the insurers have done.

Because S drivers have the top down, it becomes infinitely more nickable, unlike SLKs, Bogsters etc who always have the top up.
