Default Should I believe this?

Today is the day I was supposed to pick up my brand new gleaming S. I phoned just after 9 to ask if there was anything that I needed to do. "Everything is going fine and we'll contact you when you can pick it up". I got a phone call at 11am saying "Everything is ready, what time are you coming"?

"About 12:30pm", I replied.

... Phone call at 11:30 telling me that their electronic Tax system had gone down (aye right) and that they have an engineer coming to sort it out.

Firstly, why should I be told in one breath that EVERYTHING was sorted and in the next that there's a problem with the tax. What does EVERYTHING mean?

I'm annoyed because I'm going away to a wedding tomorrow and will struggle to pick up the car.

Is this typical? One of my colleages at work got the same reply when he bought his new car recently.

This happened to me but the garage gave me a note to explain the problem and delivered the tax disc to my house the following day.
