Default Should I switch oils?

Going to have a mid service oil and filter change, bit of tlc for the engine.
I use Mobil 1 0W/40 (it's almost impossible to find 10W/40 from them), thinking of moving to the Shell fully synth.

Should I, what do you reckon?????? Will it really make a difference?

When i say not much difference, i mean no significant difference to the untrained.

There are some very technical detailed threads about oil, and i have some info too about effects of different oils on the engine, but its soooo complicated, i wouldnt start to try and understand it

Take a look at the above thread - it shows that Mobil 1 is pretty good stuff and probably has the edge on other similar oils.

However, that looks like a whole bunch of fine detail and I'll bet you'll never notice any difference between Mobil 1 and Shell Helix Ultra as an owner/driver.

One thing I wonder (if anyone ever did a scientific test on this) is there any theoretical benefit to using the same brand of oil and fuel (they must interact to some extent in the combustion chambers?) I guess most S2000 owners are going to be using Optimax fuel so maybe Shell oil should be a natural choice. Anyway, I can't see it would do much harm to change over.

I use Texaco Havoline Energy 5W-30.
Stays clean, no odour, not desperately expensive.
Was recommended by John Cooper Garages who supplied and serviced my car from new.
