Default Side Strakes - please help! :)

Can someone please please please show me a close up of these fitted.

I've collected mine from the bodyshop, along with some rubber bits.....which I never noticed before. I'm trying to work out if the rubber bits are essential for some reason, or if they simply fix to the inside of the sill/arch return where the strakes attach - in which case a set of fibregless replica strakes, bonded to the car, and a bit of underseal to the inner area would do the job just fine.

Any assistance appreciated greatly as I know there's a fair few people who would want these if I can sort this out. Otherwise, I would need to set about getting the rubber bits from Honda too, which will bump the cost up

I'd do it myself, but my car will no longer accept the strakes on account of some wide arch panels being in the way now

Thanks!

PS - before anyone asks, yes, my oem side strakes will be for sale as and when I've finished with them etc. No you can't call dibs right now as I'll probably forget and end up giving someone the right hump which I don't want to do. A for sale thread will go up when the time comes

I'll take some photos when i get home but, the rubber bits are for high speed aero to increase stability. The rubbers are part of the side strake kit and not sold seperately!

On one side i have the proper fixing and on one side i have bolted the rubber to the wheel arch sill as the fittings arent available unless the whole kit is purchased.

Thanks, that would be ace! If they're needed, I may be able to get them alone from Japan, as I know Honda UK don't supply the door sill badges alone, but they can be ordered alone from Honda Japan! H UK being lazy I reckon!

If the rubber isn't needed, then happy days!

I can take some photos of mine too

I will answer your question though before hand. The rubber is there to fill in the gap between the car and the sidstrakes and to prevent rattling noise when the car vibrates in the same frequency as the sidetrakes if you know what i mean

You can use double side sticky paper too

I recently fitted a set, some people said don fit the rubber part but in my opinion they look better with the rubber part fitted, my local paintshop didnt want to fit them as I have had them stuck on instead of drilling the rear quarter.

Thanks for the pics Kitkat, Its the bit that you can just about see in the 4th pic down you have posted and called 'clamps' in the pdf link.

I'm thinking if I cant get hold of the clamps on their own somewhere then self tapping bolts may be the way forward...

self taping or nut and bolt - your looking at 5 mins work and 20p in cost as opposed to £300 from honda to get the part. It took me 18 months to actually have the confidence to drill the lil but it was no problem at all in the end...
