Default Side strakes no hole

Hey, after reading the OEM strake installation instructions, i realized you could probable get away with not drilling the hole that shows on the side of the car (there are two holes to drill, one that underneath, and one that that is on the side of the car).

Has anyone tried to install the OEM strakes but used double sided tape instead of drilling that one visible hole on the side? I'm thinking about giving it a whirl (strakes came with the car, I haven't had them installed yet since I DON'T want to drill a visible hole in my baby )

i have always said that this should work no problem. People have had an issue in the past with solely using double sided tape - the strakes tend to fly off at higher speeds, but seeing as you are still using the hole underneath the car and the one in the rear fenderwell, i dont see why it should be an issue*

*assuming you do a GOOD job of sticking it down along the outer edge of the strake and use a quality product like 3M automotive tape.

I've had my strakes sitting in the garage for the better part of a year because of the same concerns... that, and I don't have the template. Let me know how the tape solution works for you. i just think that with all of the rain and resistance at speed on the leading edge, it would peel back... keep us posted!

When i had my side install without the holes, It left a noticable gap after driving in the rain a few days with the OEM tape. I took out the OEM tape and used the 3M tape and still did the same thing. So I drill the hole and everything is now flush even after a few drive in the rain.
