Default silencer removal?

I am contemplating removing the middle silencer (resonator) on my s2k exhaust setup, i.e. before it branches off into 2 pipes. I would either A) remove it all together or B) replace it with a smaller version.

What does everyone think?

I really like the look of the standard exhaust but it really is not loud enough for a true drivers car...

My other option is to replace the 2 rear silencers at the back with some fireball mufflers from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW

but again I wouldnt be changing it for looks, just sound...

Any input would be great
Thanks

not sure why you would want to do that mate???

Just buy an HKS and smile!! as far as I remember the exhaust from the cat back is one piece so you would need to cut it and then stick your bits in the middle. Just buy and HKS or if its not loud enough the go for an invidia or a fujitsubo or Spugen all in fitted your talking about 7-800 quid! and when you sell you just put it back to stock.

have a look here

Would there be any negative effects with removing the centre silencer? I understand the baffles may not last as long... but i just want to make the car sound louder whilst retaining that stock look... plus I havent got 800squid to spend on a pipe

I would just angle grind out the silencer, drop the exhaust slightly then weld in a new piece matching the length of the piece I removed (stainless steel of course)... hey I may even put some flanges on the end to make it exchangeable?

Afterall isnt this what powerflow and places simalar do?

Thanks in advance

I spoke to Abbey Motorsport on getting this done but Mark (the owner) said that it would bugger up the mapping of the car and there was no way to remap it.

In a nutshell he said "DON'T DO IT"

I would agree with that

Unless you stick a different ECU in which would be about 1K your map will be all wrong.

A SH cat back would cost U about 350 - 400 I would keep your eyes peeled on the FS board.
