Sodding festoon bulbs
So I bought these on ebay, standard 31mm, 6 led festoon bulbs for the interior.

This is my second set, but I still have the same problem.
When I fit the 2 on standby they omit a dim glow, they work as normal when switched on or the doors open and switch off when needed.
But why do they stay dull when on standby? Anyone else had this problem?

Well it must be a path across a switch.
Either the slider switch in the roof panel needs cleaning out, or more likely there is a slight path to earth in one of the door pin switches.
Try sliding the switch rapidly several times left/right and see if it cleans it up.
Then pull out the door pin switches that are in the door frame of the car itself, clean and dry them - a squirt of WD40 will help.
A bit of salty water or ice in there can give a small path to earth and a small current will flow through the lamps.
Steve.
