Default SORN

I'm SORNing the S from 18th Nov when the exisiting insurance expires. However just been on the website to declare it SORN from that date but it sets the date of 1/11/2011 and doesnt allow me to change it.

Anyone done this before ? I'd rather not have to face the aggravation of queing in the post office to sort it out.

I expect I'll wait till 30th Nov then get the unexpired part of the tax refunded.

SORN it from the 1st, and cancel the insurance from the 18th. Or did you want to drive it up until the 18th?

SORN is aligned to tax renewal.

Mine is now SORN'd but I still keep it TPFT insured.

If you want to use it up to 18th Now then you will have to SORN it from the 1st December and claim the tax back (if there is any) from then. you can't do it mid month.

If you're pre 2002, you'll only get a tenner tax back anyway - is it worth your time?

The other option if you want to REALLY stick two fingers up at the system is to renew the insurance on a pay-monthly basis and then cancel on the 30th Nov. You'll be inside your 14 day cooling off period so can cancel with no charge and get a full refund.

The only caveat is if you have to make a claim in that period, you'll have to keep it insured!

I have been using it and can't see any point in paying for 12 days fully comp insurance from 18th . Have already cancelled the renewal.

I have found SORN insurer who will cover me from 18th so I guess I'll insure it from then and SORN it from 1st Dec if thats possible.

Dont make this easy do they !
