Default Split in Rear Screen

Can they just randomly appear? The reason I ask is I dropped the S down to my friends garage on Thursday evening, the screen was couldy but had no signs of potential to split. He's just looked at it today and told me there is now a split in the rear screen which wasn't there before. I find this very odd sounding but having only ever had a glass screen in my previous 3 then I have nothing to go on. Has anyone else experienced this?

TIA

It has happened to quite a lot of people. The main reason being opening it when cold, but that seems unlikely given the relatively warm weather of late...

This is the thing. As far as I am aware the roof hasn't been down since it was taken down there and I didn't put it down on the journey over. It was down for a long time (possibly years) though as the car had a hard top on it when I bought it. Would that have made a difference?

The split is 10-12cm straight down the middle.

I had the same - bought some repair glue of eBay for an almost invisible, repair. PM your address and if I can find it I'll post it off - it has a short shelf life once opened...

Flop. I have the same defect. Middle screen vertical split about 10 to 20cm long.

Caused by roof being put down in the cold. Actually I was parked In shade at work.
