You can cut the steering wheel in a car in less than a minute with a standard hacksaw. This means these "locks" can be removed in no time with anyone having a hacksaw. If they are prepared enough to steel the car (aka can get it started and get around the immobilizer), this will not even slightly deter them.Cut wheel, bend it, pop lock off and you are done. If they are just breaking in for other stuff, they do not care about the wheel lock.

In other words, do not waste your money.

You do have a point. Its basically just a very expensive deterrent.
Although it is a deterrent but as you say if they want your car they will get it.
