Default Steering wheels

Quick question - did the later models have a thicker rimmed steering wheel?

No but get in touch with Robin on here, he'll re-trim you one to any thickness/colour combo you want. His work is top notch! It's on an exchange basis so you won't be without a wheel.

The rims were the same. Earlier wheels have perforated leather. The later versions only had non perforated leather. As suggested above contact Robin as he does an excellent job of retrimming wheels in any combo you require

It's an easy DIY home swap to disable the airbag bag?

I guess you were asking and yes it is very easy.I was a bit hesistant to remove my air bag but it's very simple as long as you disconnect the battery for 30 mins or so before you remove it.

Pull off the two plastic tabs either side of the wheel
Remove the two torx style bolts either side holding the airbag on
Disconnect the airbag and horn
Remove wheel, 14mm nut.
