Default Stone chips

Hi folks

I have a series of small stone chips on the windscreen in front of the driver position. There are about 5 of these chips over an area of 10-12 cms square which is a bit annoying - but they are small, each being about 1mm in size more or less.

Is it worth calling Autoglass about these? Do they weaken the windscreen like a bigger chip would? Going on long journey soon so don't fancy any cracks in the glass!

Many thanks

R

I just rang my inurance and told them I had stone chips so bad I couldn't see out of the windscreen.

All I had was 5 years of stone rash on the windscreen that wasn't nice in direct sunlight.

Changed no problem

When I first got the car I had a small chip 1-2mm dia in the area of the drivers vision and called Autoglass out. The technician told me it was too small to do anything about, the chip needed to be about the size of a match head before they could inject the magic gell.

I've now got quite a few of these 'mini chips' but don't intend to do anything about it.

As Neil says, if you are that concerned call your insurers, it shouldn't cost you anything
