Default strike 3 for the diff

been having issues with the diff over the last year or 2- i've been letting it progress.

first off it starts feeling tight on full lock scenarios. - might of been down to me being unfamiliar with LSDs..

then it started vibrating on full acceleration. i thought this may of been down to failing shocks. while used replacements did help, a few months later the vibration returns.

and finally it clicks/clunks now and again as i move forward/back slowly. maybe hub nuts, but no - they are tight. been having lots more clunks today hence this post.

so time to look for some used diffs... i think it's had it's life.

You positive that it is the diff ?

It may be the half shafts or the CV joints.

Just a thought.

I would say it's the inboard cv joints too. Take them off clean out all grease and refit on opposite sides and repack with new grease. Simples! Cheap fix I did mine and now they are sorted only cost a few quid for new grease too.

And swap the buckets over too, and grease them well.

humm - i never thought about the CV joints.
thanks for the sugestions. might be worth a swap over to see what happens.

looks like a straight forward job - undo hub nut, undo diff flange bolts and out it comes!
only parts needed is extra grease and new crimp clips for the CV boots.... and some rubber gloves 'cause that grease is messy!

well I'll probably know by monday if the drive shaft swap fixes my issues.
gonna pop out later to get some grease & clips, then do the work tomorrow.

it looks like it could rain, but it needs doing. im either at work, or away for the entire weekend for the next 2 weeks and will be clocking up some miles; don't want it to be going pop!
