Hey all,

I did a little work on my car this weekend - adjusted the valve timings as per Hypersonic's youtube DIY advice. I went for 0.008 at the intake and 0.010 at the exhaust.
I've never done and mechanical work/training but with my brothers help we did the job in under 90 mins. Sounds slightly smoother but no noticeable performance change - just pleased I didn't kill it!

Then on Sunday I took it down to a rolling road with my brothers mini owners club (they were having a meet) just to see how the old girl is maturing with age.

So... '52 plate car, with mods as detailed below got 244bhp at the flywheel and 153ftlb torque. I really didn't expect it to do so well.

Quite confident in the accuracy of the dyno as some of the mini boys are HP-chasers and are on and off dynos on an almost monthly basis (not my cup of tea but each to their own).

Anyone know how to convert this figure back to whp? I have no idea!

It measured WHP in the first place and was back converted to Flywheel BHP

Ask if they still have the data file, it may be on there.

IMO a WBHP is more accurate and cant be bodged as such.

Well done on the results

Does it not depend on the way the dyno does it's calculation ?

At powerstation in tewkesbury they give incredibly accurate at the fly figures, but the whp is always low.

Anything is a bodge when you have two contact patchs on a tyre...

I only did it as it was a charity day and thought it might be interesting so not too fussed at the 'real' figure.

I'll do it again at the same place next year as it is an annual event and just try to get the same result (or better ) and just use it as a comparison tool.

Still pleased though, only got beaten all day by an M5 (500bhp), an RX7 (400bhp) and a mini that's had about 5k spent on engine alone.

Driver mods now needed before getting myself to some track day meets (hopefully with s2ki and not the mini folk!)

Cool, yes best way when you add mods is to use the same dyno before and after

cant remember the link (and can't get it for you as at work) but search youtube for "s2000 f20c tappet/valve timing adjustment" or something similar and you'll find it. There are 4 parts and is v useful! Is by hypersonic.

Also, go to the 'under the hood' section of the american side of this forum and there is a wordy walkthrough to dismantle the rocker cover in the FAQs.
