Default suspension advice please

i have been looking at lowering my s2k for a while now, and have done many searchs on here and on other sites. what i am after is to reduce the ride height on my car by about an 1" . but i dont really want to have a car that crashs about on b roads and is a really harsh ride. my car will not be tracked so i dont need a full race spec suspension kit. i have looked at the tein and eibach springs rates and cant help thinking they are quite high, and im also concerned about leaving the standard dampers on as well. would you say a full coilover kit is a bit much for what i need , will some eibach springs do the job? any advice would be great , thanks and sorry for bringing this up again
