syncros sleeve 3rd 4th
All ready posted this somewhere but for the life of me can't find it.
Honda drove my car round the block and said I need a syncro sleave 3rd 4th .gave me a quote that nearly made me faint!!
Basically when changing from 2nd to 3rd at and at any speed even 2000revs as it passes the nutral position there's a sharp notch before going fully into 3rd.
Even with minimal revs it doesn't it.
Done a transmission oil change.and clutch oil change and made no difference.
Is it possible it could be anything else like clutch?
I'm shifting properly and folliwing the h pattern ultra slow and still makes no difference.
I get the idea the slower I shift the worse it feels.
Thx
Dave

This sounds very gear specific and I had it with 5th due to skipping gears.
Unfortunately is sounds like your synchro set for 3rd(and 4th) is slightly damaged. Second hand boxes aren't too pricey I don't think and there are specific companies who can fix it.
I completely lost my 5th eventually and had to take my box to bits and fix it.
Personally for the price of a repair I'd go for a second hand box.

Problem is I won't know what it is till they take a look which means labour!
It does it sometimes when I go into 5th as well.over the last week it has got worse.
Will need to find a garage I can trust as they could say anything lol.
Thx for the replies I was hoping there was a cheaper route I could try.or a way of knowing it was Def syncros.

Not sure where I can source a box from?
Just been out in it again.
Coasting along at 20mph clutch in touch 2nd then keep clutch in in 3rd massive notch. Still don't let go of clutch and repeat 2nd then 3rd and notch! Going high revs if I use the diagnol approach rather than h movement it's better??
Better start saving ma pennies up.
It's in the garage tomorrow for new starter motor!
