In Car Entertainment ("ICE") Upgrades
The stock speakers and head unit in the S is not the cutting edge in ICE (particularly the pre-2002 model set up which does not have the separate tweeters built into the door panels of the 2002 model and onwards). Many owners upgrade the front speakers and head unit and some also install speakers behind the seats and a CD autochanger either under the passenger seat, in the boot or in a secret compartment.

Which upgrades should come first is a debatable point, although replacing the front speakers (particularly in the pre-02 model) is strongly recommended, as is the replacement of the stock head unit with a more powerful unit.
Alpine head units are a popular choice as Alpine also produce an adapter (the KCE865-B) which enables the driver to continue to use the finger tip audio controls. The adapter can be bought from Halfords or an online retailer such as mcs-direct.co.uk.
One of the board's sponsors, Lucid, provide speaker and head unit removal and installation instructions. Lucid also supplies a range of adapters and baskets to enable the S2000 owner to install aftermarket speakers in the doors and in the panels behind the seats. A link to Lucid's website can be found in the Site Sponsers section of the Marketplace part of this website.

I know that we're all happy with the removal of all the sticky threads, but I seem to be having to advertise this thread on a daily basis.
Just thought I'd make the point, if people like things the way they are, that's ok with me.
BTW 02 section now done.
