and I actually understood it

That has confirmed my suspicions - it is not worth doing unless you have access the a dyno and the right experience available

I'd be interested to know what sort of differences were seen between US and UK cars!

Anyway, I'm going to stop posting these long technical posts. I keep getting
the feeling that they are being at most part understood.

Hopefully I will get a chance to have a chat at JAE

Dreamer - from a standing start I agree but from a roll they aren't bad. He's getting a REVO chip next week - 265 or something.
I know I used to have one

We tried it (standard 210bhp) against Kelk's S and the S3 just slipped behind, I've also tried my S against my friends (standard 225bhp) S3, and it's the same story.

With a remap (usually about 265bhpish + bags of torque... ooohhhh I miss the torque....) I just don't know - I think the S3 might clinch it....

You've hit the nail on the head Mikey.

I don't know of any decent tuners who would be able to map my mods using the AEM EMS.

Brian - I'm going to look into getting a wideband sensor to check things are okay. But I'll also do a search on finding some more info on the J's and Amuse ECU fuel maps. - no harm in checking - I'll post the info here.

I'll update this thread as I find more info...

My friend also thinks he'll be able to keep up or maybe even over take me from a roll!

I'd better get my arse in gear to get this ECU sorted!!!

Thanks Brian, that is a very useful post. Just one question before you go; if you installed a wideband sensor would a stock or Mugen ECU be able to interpret it and compensate?

Else Me and Steve will feed you the beers at the JAE whilst we drain your knowledge

Just got some info from J's Racing:

Don't worry about driving without ECU. It doesn't damage your car.
But.... if you put the ECU, your car's engine works more efficiently!!!
We can provide the ECU fitting in well with your modifications; Mugen CAI, AMuse dual exhuast and J's Manifold
as we have lots of data. About 200 types of data!!!
We usually take your genuine ECU first as a trade-in, and provide our ECU of your model, but you live in London,
so if you pay 50,000 yen as deposits of your genuine ECU, we will provide our ECU first.
After you give us your genuine ECU, we will refund 50,000 yen.
Our ECU's price is 98,000 yen and we don't take any consumption tax from you.
If you would like our ECU, please let us know;
1 .If your Amuse dual exhuast has a catalytic agent or not.
2. How mush your Engine mileage?
3. If you use a normal plug or a Racing Plug?
If you use the plug No.7, you need to change the plug No.7 form No.8 or No.9.

Right - now it does seem as though they tune the ECU to the mods that I have on the car...

- should I remove the cat?
- what are they talking about n0.7 plugs etc?

Do you think they meant your engine is mush if you do low mileage with the mods?

I'd love to know how much you've spent on your car AB. Its going to make a very nice second hand motor for someone at some point in the future
