Default Timing Chain/Guides Replacement

Afternoon all,

I'm finally going to get round to replacing my timing chain, guides and pulley (having got the parts about a year ago!). Two questions:
  1. Has anyone done it themselves?
  2. Do you really need to take the head off, as it says in the workshop manual?? Seems a bit OTT just to get the chain out.
Any help appreciated as always.

Thanks LG, I knew I'd seen it mentioned. Looks like Dixon doesn't bother. The manual says to remove all the head bolts in the right order to stop warping occuring. I did wonder how much warping could occur by undoing 2 of 10 such bolts, plus it's the 2 smallest ones, at one end, so i can't see the rest of the head budging much. Guess it's just Honda being super safe.

Does anyone disagree with this theory?!

I've got my friendly local independent looking at the procedure, to cost it up in case I don't want to tackle it myself.
