Torn Roof
I think i have found the reason why some roofs tear, regardless of age.
It's because of this!!!
The guide is not showing on this pic but if you can see the plastic sticking out from the outside then the roof will tear!!
The plastic guides that keep the roof away from the folding mech sometimes are distorted. This means when the roof is put up the roof material can go inboard of the guide rather than outboard of it. This causes the join to be put under tension causing the rip in the first place.
Its happened on my 06 on the passenger side but not on the drivers.
I pushed the guide inboard to make the moulding stay a little further inboard so the roof slides over it properly when coming up. you have to put a bit of pressure on it but make sure you don't break it.
Has this been said before? Sorry if i'm repeating something that has already been discussed.
This is my tear anyway. I don't really want to have the roof replaced yet but i will be keeping my eye on it!!

So you just pinch it together untill it bends a bit? It doesn't return to back where it was on it's own?
