I need some soon.
Totally agree that grip / handling are critical - as I sprint the car - so price is not an issue. Sprints are in the summer so normally dry (actually some sprints last season were very wet!)
What do I get that is as good as the SO2s?
So Toyos are soggy, F1s are ok in the wet, RE50A don't come in 245 size, anybody tried Avons?
Ideas please?
I've got Hankook RS-2 tyres in 16" (245 on the rear). It's a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. The best thing I can say about them is that they take the heat a lot better than the S02s, so on track with these it feels like I could run all day, unlike the S02s which wouldn't take long to overheat the rears. They're a lot more progressive; it feels like you're sliding all the time, which is not to say they don't grip, but it's a different kind of grip. Kind of fun on the road, maybe not so great on track, and probably not on a sprint.

I went for a 70 odd mile trip last night and have nothing bad to say about the T1-R's.
Normal speed limit driving was nice on A roads, ride is a little softer and cats eyes on bends don't make the back jump out a bit.
I had no tramlining on the 20 miles of duel I done, cruising at 80 was nice. Dunno what it will be like with another 80 on the speed.

I'm no track day racing driver so alls good so far.

I had 245/45/16 fitted about 2-3 months ago. Only on the back at the moment tho.

Pretty pleased with them, definitetly more progressive on the breakaway. A lot more grip in the wet too.

I did find them a little soft.

Put the presures upto 36psi after reading on the forums. Did try 34psi too but dont think it was enough.

Appreciate the input and advice; for sprints it has to be list 1b - so no out and out track tyres. Looks like the proxes will be ok - by running higher pressure for the track - and better as road tyre in gerneral driving. Thanks
