just be aware that the "lifetime warranty" usually only covers 'non-moving parts'. Therefore great for spanners and scokets but no use for ratchets.

I'm also looking into this. The main problem with that Halfords one is that the minimum torque is higher than what is needed for things oil changes whereas the machine mart one looks lower enough to be able to do that.

I assume the "racing" ones are just lighter and quicker to lift?
They're a lighter, all aluminium construction. it doesn't lift quicker like some but it lifts reasonably high and seems well built too
I've got one of the aluminium ones from machine mart too. Nice and light but it does twist quite a lot sometimes. Not sure whether this is normal for aluminium jacks but doesn't fill me with confidence when using it!

I've got an SGS one and it's much better than previous Halfords (or similar) ones I had.

Is the SGS jack better than the Clarke?

It's a tossup of the two.

I needed a new un quick in light of the recent rad implosion. I was sick of the halfords tooin and froin to get it under the car. If you can stomach the 100 quid, the Clarke is an absolute belter of a jack.
