Default UK exhaust mod and stereo

HI all ,

just wondered if anybody new of where in the Southampton area I could get the exhaust mod done ?

Also what are people's recommendations for a stereo ( needs to be able to use a iPod classic ) and simple speaker upgrade ? Where the best place to purchase ?

Any info and help much appreciated

Stereos are much of a muchness within a given price range. Stick to the usual suspects, Alpine, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, and you'll be fine. Caraudiodirect are usually pretty good, though do the usual price comparisons.

Speaker-wise, again the usual suspects, Alpine, JL Audio, Hertz, Focal are all very good.

And as for the UK exhaust mod, go to somebody who knows what they're doing. TGM at Fleet.

Hear any exhaust modification on an identical car before you fit one to your car. The UK exhaust is fairly simple if you can weld but changing your mind after hearing it on your car is more complex. Aftermarket exhausts tend to be obnoxiously loud but are lighter and bolt on in your driveway. There seem to be some for sale in good used condition.

Somehow "radio and exhaust mod" seems a bit oxymoron to me. Any radio is difficult to hear with the roof down and stock exhaust and making it noisier will make that worse.

Josh, I could have flogged you my stereo and speakers/sub if you had asked a few weeks ago. Nevermind.

Try FatBloke re: the exhaust mod. He's is Milton on Sea or some other south coast retirement village. He's either got the mod, or certainly had it.

Whilst I agree on the first point, the second is completely untrue. You just have to do the stereo properly.

Agreed, decent head unit and speakers and mine is very audible at motorway speeds.

Think about why you are changing the exhaust from stock. Be sure you know what you are trying to achieve.
