There is actually a lot more daily drivers than I thought. I suppose until it becomes un-viable to drive every day I will continue to do so after all you buy a car to drive it!

Mine's now worth so little that the most viable answer is to keep using it until something major fails. And then it won't be worth fixing.

I'm doing 60 miles a day these days, but a couple of years ago I used it every day to do 200. Worst thing was I was buying a new set of rear tyres every 3 months.

I drive my S2000 daily 65miles round trip. I used to drive a Suzuki Swift the same.

For the swift it cost £43.34 a week at 45mpg fuel costing average £1.32
The S2000 it costs £56.23 a week at 36mpg costing average £1.37

So £12.89 a week or £55.85 a month more expensive in fuel. The tax which is a bit of pain £145 swift, £485 s2000, so a £28.33 more expensive per month for the s2000. The tyres are ~£65 brand name for the swift so about half that of the s2000, so £20 a month more expensive on tyres for the s2000 (assuming both the swift and s2000 tyres last the a year each). Insurance there's actually only a £100-150 difference a year or £8.68 a month between the two now.

I'm sure there's other stuff, but driving my S2000 everyday cost me the sum of £112.86 a month more than if I drove my swift. So the real question is driving a 2 seater convertible sports car that has ~240bhp worth spending the extra money over a 4 seater front wheel drive hatchback with ~101bhp? Yes.

Sure I could lease a smart car or buy a £400 clio and probably save some cash, but I didn't buy a s2000 to drive on the weekend to the local supermarket and back.
Good to see someone working out the overall cost of ownership and not just the difference in fuel - but 36 mpg on a commute? Wish I could get that, I get 28 if I'm lucky...
Not far off tbh - mine worked out as about 33mpg for daily motorway slogs. Swapping to an oil burner did reap benefits, so when I return to S ownership it will be purely as a garage queen, if I remain at my same workplace. Just got tiring on the motorway for me.
If i'm in employment nearby (like within 5-10 miles), there's no question that i'd run it as a daily. Nothing better than throwing back the hood on a sunny evening and forgetting the workday stresses

MORE than makes up for the lack of use
Tom, you seriously need to let me know that next time your are heading up the Evo - I will be there

I use mine regularly, sometimes 5 times a week when the weather is really sh1te & I don't fancy taking the bike for my commute to work - granted it's only 12 miles each way so I don't rack up mega mileage but I always enjoy the drive and this is after nearly 7.5 years

No problem Martin, I did fire a message around on Facebook about it a few weeks before it, and got no interest, but still went anyway with a few of the lads

I'm planning a small detour around the Evo Triangle on the way to the Megameet. Probably with another chap on here! But the more the better. Maybe we should start a thread in the Meets ?

We'll be coming south around Chester after we get over the M62 and M56.

Just had a quick look, Chester services would seem like a good meet spot and have a Shell VPower station :-)

As the Evo Triangle is only 20 mins down the road from where I live I'm going to try to escape work in Chester that day around 4pm and head down to Llandrindod Wells rather than head back in to North Wales & have to double back on myself.

There are some amazing roads from Newtown down to Llandrindod Wells which I know like the back of my hand and you are welcome to join me if you wish

Thanks for the offer.

It's all about the timings as I hope to be away lunchtime ish but I will be waiting on a call from Lifecrisis when he gets back from France :-)

Cheaters about 2 hours away from Rufforth near York where I am so ideal time for a break.

I've been daily driving mine for 8 years. Still love driving it, I'm lucky as I have perfect roads for an s2000 on my work commute.

Yeah. Daily drive for me. Owned since new. Now on 103k miles. Love canning it around when dry. Take easy in the wet and panic when it's icy or snowing.

Commute for the last two years is down the m4 and up the a34. 80 miles round trip.
