Default Vacuum sensor noise!

Hi guys,

I fitted my catch tank today and whilst refitting vac hoses I've clearly knocked something - the sensor that connects to the passenger side of the charcoal canister is now making a loud rasping noise - as though it's sucking air in through the top. Not sure what the sensor is as I don't have a vac diagram for the skip.

Anybody got any thoughts?

Thanks

No idea, but you could be a cowboy, stick some duck tape over the top for the time being until you find out?

I'm not totally sure either, but I thought it was a solenoid valve. My money is they have a diaphragm that's ruptured in yours - but I might be way off the mark !

That's the solenoid that activates the egr valve. You need to sort that vacuum leak as it will mess your fueling up.

One side of the solenoid is open to the vent on the top (the bit you are trying to cover with your thumb) when not activated. Looks like you have just mixed the two hoses up on the bottom of the solenoid so that the vacuum line is connected to open vent and not the air pump valve. Switch them round and that should fix it - nothing wrong with solenoid I dont think. The other box is not charcoal canister, just a vacuum accumalator (an empty box!).

Fixed - as predicted - I had indeed managed to swap the hoses over. Popped them back to where they should be and all is well with the world again.

SEOT.
