Sounds like truly crap service. Regarding the clutch, if he's tried to 'launch' it, and the delay valve has prevented him, it will have overheated the surface of the clutch. I did this year's ago when I first had the car. However, of this is the cause, it will sort itself out in a few tens of miles, or a couple of hundred. No lasting damage. Hopefully that's all it is.

If it really is worn, I doubt hell have managed to wear it that much in such a short drive, so it could just be coincidence?

Rgds

OP I'm sorry to hear of your problems with Honda... I bought My S2K this year and it had only been serviced by a Honda dealership which later turned into a Honda S2000 specialist independent with the same guys running it; frankly i'm totally unimpressed with all the work I've uncovered by them so far. Everything is done up way too tight, nothing torqued down properly, wrong types of grease used in the wrong places, no shin-etsu or UREA grease where required, and no copper slip on the lugs, trim clips left off (not even cable tied back up!!) on certain body panels, all sorts...

I'm dreading having my valve clearances done.. I've never done it myself before and am more than nervous about it, but I don't trust anyone to do them either...

you'd have to try to kill a clutch in 14 miles
why they are driving that far i dont know. Once Grantham Honda broke my windscreen on a 'road test' after an oil change. I was seriously unimpressed.
Nottingham Honda scratched my car

basically.. Honda dealers are not very good.

Sadly one of the reasons I have a discreet dash cam installed in my car. For no good reason I have a severe distrust of mechanics and I think given the S2000 has been long discontinued, it's hard to find someone half decent and reliable to do the work.

Honda has very little influence on their dealers. They're independent businesses that sell their cars. Saying you're having trouble with "Honda" is highly inaccurate, there's a problem with a specific dealer(s). Car dealers should be thought of as vending machines. They don't make the product they sell, just dispense it. Same product is available at a large number of vending machines dealers. Note the defective ones and find one that works.

Just as an aside, doing your own clearances really isn't that hard. You need patience and some cover (so you don't have to leave it uncovered if it starts raining for example), patience, a decent set of feelers and patience. If you follow the various guides its no harder than Lego.

Thanks for the words of inspiration Andy. I may attempt it when I decide to sort the paint properly on my rocker cover... Get the two done at the same time..
