Is this just an isolated case or does this happen to all S2000s, Any info given on why this happens would be appreciated.

Thanks
I wouldn't worry too much about all the comments here - most people will have done this at least once in their car owning lives - I know I did, and as long as learn from such mistakes then all will be fine.

Yeah, driving the car hard from cold is a habit you want to try and avoid.

Besides the obvious engine temp issues, things like, gearbox, diff and your brakes will want to up to temp too.

So try and give driving off your drive sideways a miss .

Look, I'm a girl and even I know that you don't rev a cold engine let alone VTec!
The Bermuda and I don't do any high revs until there's 5 bars on the temp gauge. We pootle about at 30-ish mph until everything is warmed up, even when there's an old duffer in a MX5 sat on our bumper trying to gode us into a race!
To be fair it doesn't take long to get to temperature, I'm always amazed how quickly we can get up to speed.

Put it down to a schoolboy error and move on!

Chris - you have a car that has 4 pistons that move at the same speed as a modern f1 engine. The last thing you should be doing is trying to spin it up before it's warmed up.
You need to treat this engine with care, my friend or it'll seriously hurt your wallet!
