VTEC probs

Default VTEC probs

Ive just started having a prob when in VTEC, it feels like a petrol blockage (if you understand what i mean) and then it goes, it feels like a powerr loss, its not all the time and the oil level is fine, which is made me worried, any ideas. . .?

Reset the ECU by disconnecting the neative battery terminal for 5 or 10 mins and also give the map sensor a whack. That should sort your problem.

Do a search for "map sensor" and you'll get more info.

Definately your MAP sensor, had the very same thing with my car. Don't worry, easily fixed with a tap.

if it feels like the power is coming and going and the car is dropping in and out of vtec, and your fuel consumption has worsened then i had exactly the same thing. disconnect and reconnect the map sensor and give it a tap as the others have said. worked for me.

All 2004 and 2005 are being given new MAP sensors to fix just this problem. If I remember the Honda Service Bulletin is 622. Try your dealer to see if they will do yours even though it is a bit older!

Cheers guys, i did the map sensor knock and reset the ECU and drives lurrrvvvly now, one thing tho, after i reconnected the battery, i activated the alarm and it chirped twice like a normal alarm, which i like as i know i put it on, the trouble is it only did it the once, any ideas. . .?
