What to do...
After sustained pressure from SWMBO I sold my S back in June to get a 'sensible, mature' car. She absolutely hated the S, and wouldn't offer to use her car on longer journeys/shopping trips etc as she already does a lot of miles in her car. Part of the rationale for selling the S was that she would be giving up her (well-paid) job in London (long commute) for a job that doesn't pay well nearer home and getting a small shopping trolley-type car, with me having a big car for long journeys etc.
Now it turns out, due to company re-organisation, that she may well stay in her job for the foreseeable future.
I desperately miss the S and want to get another one, but it would have to be a second car with something like a Mondeo/Focus/Golf as the 'main' car.
How can I persuade her that I should get another S, without undergoing the 'mid-life crisis/poseur' jibes.
The finances would work out (especially if she gets a pay rise) for a 3 year old 'beater' and a 5/6 year old S.
Perhaps some of the ladies whose partners have an S may like to contribute to arguements that would 'persuade' them.
Answers on a postcard (or failing that - on here would do

Sorry Mike, couldn't resist.
I have the beginnings of how to sell it to her. Goes something along the lines of - when I drive the S you can drive the beater so you don't put so many miles on your car. You will NEVER have to sit in the S
(so LSB will be permanently disengaged). Plus a diamond ring she has set her eyes on!
Jefferson has it right - want the car? -then buy the car!
Here's the start of a strong argumant for you. "I really miss my S2000 and I need to replace it."
Others may now add further sentances to this.

If it helps - I made sure my wife bought whatever car she wanted...I ensured she was totally happy but all the time she was aware that I had set my heart on a 911 (not really
)
I then, in a fit of extreme sacrifice, "downgraded" my purchase for the S2000 which looked a bargain compared with the 911 and the green light was given.
The beater followed later (

Thanks for the words of support
Expected a lot worse TBH!
I've got 6 months to:
a) save up enough money to afford an S and beater (plenty of time away with overtime/allowances)
b) convince her that I won't use the S as chick magnet
Plus, it's my 40th birthday in July, so when she asks me what I want I can persuade her to put some money of her own towards it
Could I really get away with that one
