Do I need any other bits to get it all working? its an 08.
Also wanting to upgrade the speakers to Alpine SPE-17SF Shallow Mount. do I need any bits/tools/hackinnslashin? Im looking for an idiots guide.
I want to avoid a PITA. plz pardon my ignorance.

Just a harness and a patch lead to wire up the new head unit.

You do. You need the harness and a pioneer patch lead. It may be that, that website doesn't have any.
Worth noting the manufacturer of the patch lead needs to match the manufacturer of the harness.

I used the Modifry harness/dash control unit with my Pioneer, and while not particularly cheap it was worth every penny. The additional functionality by using modifiers against the volume control for Next/previous track, folder etc are a godsend.

I also used modifry. Great bit of kit. Yes it's expensive but worth the money in my view.
I have the speakers you mention above. Don't expect them just to drop in and replace the others with no modification. You will need to make some mdf spacers or hack up the existing basket to make the woofer fit. Not a massive problem if you're capable and expecting it though. Think the tweeter went in easily - seem to remember using a washer to space something out but thats about all.

So, my shopping list:
- Pionner MVH
- Alpine speakers
- 6.5" spacers
- modifry
Last question. Do I need any other leads and/or adapters if I get the Modifry?
