what socket range
What is the range of sockets needed to work on the S.
I already have a decent 1/2 inch wrench and extension but my sets are all old money (whitworth/AF etc). I now know that the Dif plug is 23mm so have found this set:
10 -11 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 17 - 18 - 19 - 20 - 21 - 22 - 23 - 24 - 27 - 30mm

8mm is required for a few things on the S

FWIW, I'd go for a set that uses 6 sided sockets, especially where the larger sizes are concerned.
Tight bolts + multipoint sockets = rounded off bolt heads
If you can stretch to £100, Halfords do a socket set normally on half price which is 160 pc and includes imperial, metric sockets and combination spanners/ratchet spanners,plus allen keys and drive attachments. It is a quality bit of kit.

gbduo - decided £100 too expensive as I have loads of tools so many in the toolkit would be duplicates. It would be nice to have a nice new shiny kit though. Thanks for the thought.

senna88 - I0-19 range is a cheaper option and will get the odd socket outside the range if needed. I have a decent set of rings anyway and have an old 3/8inch part set (lent bits to friends in the past) with a few odd sockets which I think will cover the 8mm requirement.

If you are looking for a set of sockets then see if you can find some "wall drive" sockets, they have six sides but instead of flat sides that drive the corners of the nuts they have a sort of cam shaped sides that drive the flat parts of the nuts, they can take a lot more torque than six sided or 12 sided sockets.

As with all things, but especially with tools. buy cheap and buy twice. You should always buy the best quality tools you can afford, so look for names like Mac, Snap-On, Crescent, or Craftsman (Sear's own brand). Your nuts will appreciate it.
