Wheel centre caps /trim
Having got half the front end braking system in bits (see other thread!) I have decided to refurb the wheels too.
I have read through a lot of threads on centre caps from some years back but haven't really got an answer.
It appears the caps have an aluminium cover over the plastic? are these available anywhere? with the "H" on?
If not can I strip the ali off without damaging the cap and then get a sticker to put over it?
I have found one supplier (Ebay) who has 40mm by 30mm BUT it has a border on it too, did the original have a border? see the pic of my caps below, are they original?
What's the usual answer to refurbing the centre caps?

They are diamondcht finished, like the wheels. You can flatten them out and paint as per the wheels.
Someone on here used to cut the Hs
These wheels are tough to refurb

Most people tend to just spray them silver and have a solid colour with the logo on.
I went a bit extreme and re covered them with aluminium tape then spun on a drill to get that 'brushed' look before lacquering the logos underneath. Gets an Orem finish but took ages to get right

Aluminium foil cap pressed over a hard plastic centre - once it has gone ... it has gone for good. Think 1980s milk bottle cap pressed over the glass bottle and you'd be about right for quality / thickness.
Just unfold the aluminium cap, sand the plastic trim and repaint in the colour of your choice then add the H badge and then lacquer over it.

its easy Peasy and only took a couple of hours, if you want a higher shine you can get other paints and lacquers

I peeled the aluminium cover off the caps, and then painted them to match the wheels (wheels are now anthracite) and picked up some red 'H' logos from eBay.
