Default Wheel Warranty claim

Popped down to my honda dealer last friday for them to take photos of my corroding alloys for a warranty claim. My car's a Bob Gerard car from Cyprus so they checked it was registered on the honda warranty system, which it is, and then tool photos of the corroded wheels.

I just had a phone call from the dealer saying that there is no problem with the claim and it will go though, but that Honda also need a photo of the VIN plate and a couple of photos of the side of the car. When i queried exactly what they wanted the photos to show they basically said that honda wanted to see the side of the car showing the corroded wheels so that they could check the colour of the car against the VIN plate to make sure it wasn't a fraudulant claim.

WTF don't they trust the dealers?

When I've had my car in they always take a photo of the reg number to go with the claim.

It's standard practise now to stop fraudelent claims by owners as well as dealers as anyone can take photos of wheels etc and just add a description of what car it comes from.

But it prevents you claiming too many times for the same car :).

Silly rule but had the same issue with my 4 wheels as well.

also they check the car against a hpi report listing, to see if it has had any damage registered against it, this way if it shows as damage, they will reject the claim

Got a service on Thursday - gonna ask them to try for a new set of wheels whilst I'm at it. Starting to look a bit crap.

I dont suppose you could post some pictures of the state of your wheels as mine are exhibiting tiny spots of corrosion and would be curious to know how bad yours are that they are changed under warranty. Thanks
