I've done it for less than a mile.
As long as you are careful it won't damage a thing. That and you need the roof up
Im sure if you got caught by the police they would probably give you a ticking off! It isn't really the safest thing to do. Try get a van if you can.

i cut the back boxes off the system, the front fits in the passenger side wrapped in a blanket and the boxes in the boot, its a simple sleeve job to reconnect at a later time or just weld it up once home
if you do it make a couple of marks across the cut line so it lines up properly

Fit the exhaust yourself, it's not that difficult
I swapped out mine for a Mugen and put the OEM one back on again. The hardest part is getting the rubber straps back on the hooks, but some lubrication helped.

I would fit it myself but I really don't have the time for about 3 weeks and as usual the equation below sums up my problem;
New + Shiney + loud = impatient.

Ahh OK then
New + Shiney + loud + impatient = ££££
Either leave the OEM behind, or hire a van, or find a mate with a bigger motor

New + Shiney + loud + impatient + mate who works at an exhaust place = £25 in cash
When I did mine, I managed to acquire the use of a people carrier. It did the job admirably !
