Windscreen replacement
#81
Woke up this morning and have acquired a crack from on side of the windscreen to the other right along the bottom. Looks like my insurer uses Autoglass and judging from this thread i'm dreading the whole process. Hopefully i will get a decent fitter and it wont turn into a 6 month battle to get a decent windscreen fitted

Had it fitted and tbh he seems to have done a good job. Need to inspect fully in the day time due to not having the time to fully inspect it today. From what i could tell it is a good job though.
Had an issue with the rear view mirror wobbling around but after a bit of digging on the net it turned out the retaining clip was on upside down. Flipped it over and the mirror in 100% perfect now

Just had my screen replaced by Autoglass, the master technician did a fantastic job of replacing the screen, trim and moulding the fit is first class. Had to pay a little bit extra through my insurance company to get Honda parts but its well worth it.

I went to auto windscreens yesterday to get a chipped screen replaced. I should have read this thread first!
Wobbly rear view mirror, was fine before on the previous screen. Quarter of inch gap on the outside bottom of the screen due to different curvature. To be fair the fitter has done a good job with the seal and finishing, but I’m not happy.
Rang him when I got home he said the mirror was wobbly before!, I’ve had the car 8 years and not noticed!!
So now waiting for his manager to ring. Checked my insurance, it has the usual get outs, but I haven’t contacted them yet.
When I spoke to the fitter at the depot he did say it’s not possible to get oem screens anymore, anyone had a Honda screen fitted recently?

Seems to still be available https://www.lingshondaparts.com/part...ckref/B__5200/
In the US it shows as discontinued, different part number though for some reason 73111-S2A-A01
LHD and RHD should be the same I would think?

Yes so it’s looks like they are still available.
I guess it’s standard practice to use a pattern screen to reduce cost.
Just going to ring the fitter to see if it’s possible to take the boss off the old screen and fit to the new one to cure the wobbly mirror.

I had a very £ nightmare with mine and aftermarket shyte
basically a Honda dealer broke my screen whilst in for a service. They replaced with a non OEM screen and more importantly none OEM seal
Years later I got bad rust. Had to have screen removed and treated. Body shop said the seal was trapping water and the fitter had likely scratched the paint cutting out old screen
New seals cost me £300 plus paint and repairs.
So I would
go to them
Inspect after they remove
INSIST on OEM screen seal

The mirror is a tricky refit - you have to turn the nut the wrong way to tighten it properly.
