Default Air Box Mod troubles! help!

ok so today i decided to do an airbox mod to my car..
i finish it no problem..
i saw off the middle plastic piece that seperates the 1st and 2nd chamber..
i take it for a test drive, fun!
then i use the middle plastic piece and i cut it 2"x2" and put it over the hole behind the air filter as the DIY suggests..
i take it for a spin and what do you know, the malfunction indicator lamp goes on
TT^TT
im pretty sure its from blocking off my resonator so i think ill take it off..
now the problem is,
im wondering,
does blocking of the resonator (hole behind the filter) do anything for performance??
and could it be that i f***ed something up during this simple process??
help! s2k owners!
now im typing this 5 min after my ordeal.. i think im gonna turn my engine on one more time to see if its there..
ill comment on my findings..
thanks for helpin!

That would not cause it. Go to autozone and get your codes read.

just break down and spend the cash on an intake. when you get codes pulled from autozone be sure to search this website for what the code is b4 going and asking what this code is, or you'll b flamed, which is gay, but nevertheless.
