Evopalooza Track Day - Gingerman
So a friend of a friend set up a track event at Gingerman called Evopalooza on Friday May 24.
It's pretty well priced. It looks like it's more of an informal track gathering than full on track day. So it will be small with plenty of track time. Instead of instructors he will have 3 or 4 coaches (including myself) to help out throughout the day. I think first timers would get more out of proper instruction but a lot of locals are experienced enough to go out on your own and this should be a good opportunity to do so for a good price. AutoInterests will be there the next couple of days if you want to make a long weekend out of it.

In an effort to have an inexpensive track day that has more than one Evo present, I give you EVOpalooza 2. Though this is NOT exclusively for Evo's and is open to ANY car make and model, this is a perfect opportunity to see what other Evo owners are doing and actually put all the modifications we do to these cars to the test on a real track. Cost is only $145, if purchased before April 24th. Goes up to $165 from then till the day for the event.
The cost includes a lunch ticket and access to the course from 9 am to 5pm with a one hour break for lunch, though Gingerman will have the gates open to us all night so you can get there as early as you'd like. We'll run in three groups: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. You do not need ANY track experience to do this and I'll have a least two coachs there to assist anyone who would like some instruction. If you are a beginner, you cannot take a passenger unless they are someone in the Intermediate or Advanced groups.
You must bring your own helmet, which must be at least SA2000+. You can use a motorcycle helmet, as long as it's SA or DOT 2005 or newer. Fortunately, an SA2000+ helmet is very cheap to come by on Ebay and the like, but if possible try to get a SA2005 as they are newer, better and accepted fully at other tracks.
If it rains, the event goes on as planned. Like any track day, we are at the mercy of the weather and there are NO REFUNDS. The only thing that will halt the event is lightning, as the corner workers cannot be out in those conditions.
There will be no formal tech inspection, but common sense rules here. Make sure you car is in very good working order before you show up. HIGHLY recommended to flush brake system with high temp brake fluid like Motul 600 to more aggressive pads to prevent brakes from overheating. However, there will be an extremely experienced tech onsite to help (for a small fee) with bleeding brakes, changing pads ect, so you won't be left high and dry if you can't do this yourself.
For those of you who have track experience, none of this is news to you. I included mainly for those who have never done this before. If that is you, you REALLY should consider this. I regret not doing track days much earlier in life, as it is by far one of the most fun things a car guy can do. And for an Evo owner, this event will be tough to beat.
If you have any questions, please email me at morricus@gmail.com. I am not doing this for profit, and in fact assume I'm going to lose a good amount of money. I really just wanted to bring together as many Evo's as possible for a low cost, fun, track event. Please try to come!
