First time at CIR...
So went to CIR in Buffalo Grove this pass weekend and had a blast. Such an adrenaline rush being my first time. They only had track 2 open so I did two runs on it.
My first run - 8 people(friends), first time for everyone
Best lap - 17.30 Average lap - 19.90 1st place
I was a little nervous so I wasn't use to the pace until towards the end of race. It also didn't help there were alot of newbies.
Second run - 4 people, random peeps
Best lap - 16.21 Average lap - 17.30 1st place
A more satisfying run. I knew I could go faster compared to the first so I let the others get ahead on our caution laps and pushed the hell out of it on green. I ended catching up to one and he would not let me pass him up. I finally found an opening and he ends up swiping me on the backend. So that slowed my Average lap some. Anyways, I am pretty proud of my times for a newbie and I shed over a second off. I'm thinking of going again some time this month and hit 15's possibly. Well, just wanted to share with everyone as I'm pretty pumped about it.

I CIR. Just did the Addison location a couple of weeks ago. IMO, the facility is a bit nicer there and while I love track 2 at BG, track 1 is a bit of a bore. Track's 1 and 2 (or whatever they're calling them) are both fun at Addison.

I was thinking of going to Addison for my next one actually and check out the tracks there. It's good to know both tracks are fun. From the overhead window, track 1 didn't look all that great in BG. It had too many straight aways and simple wide turns from the looks. Anyways, thanks for the info Pat. Probably check that out sometime this month. Oh, what time do think is the best time to go there when it is not as busy?

Yeah, track 1 at CIR has too many straight(ish)aways. I was getting beat by a friend of mine by a couple tenths pretty consistently on track 2 but when we switched to track 1 I was able to beat his times. I think it's because I probably have a 30 lb weight advantage on him which will help on the straights.
I haven't figure out the best time at CIR yet. All the times I can go are busy times. Weekdays are pretty open - used to do that when I lived in BG.

If you don't mind, what was your best lap time on track 2? Just curious to know where I stack up against people who are use to it. Or even anybody elses time on that track for that matter. Thanks

I see. I'm not too far off from the top 20 list. I'm pretty sure I can shave off at least half a second with a little more practice. Thanks for the info Pruhnke.
