Honestly, i drive my full size montero around in the winter, its a 3.5 V6 and it guzzles gas like no ones business. I hate filling up for $42+ every time. It drives me nuts! How much is that thing going for? 50k+ i presume? For that money, i myself would look into an FX45, 315hp, AWD, more fun and easy to drive, plus you wouldnt spend a crap load on gas and have japanese build quality. Thats just one suggestion i can make, since right now im shoppin around also for a new truck.

I drove the H2 in that GM event, and I can honestly say it has the cheapest, worst quality interior I have ever seen.
I kept thinking about how all the knobs and plastic looked like the car-fi stuff you find on the wall at K-MART. I know it is supposed to look ruggid but it is so Fisher Price.
I finally have to agree with Dezoris on something. The few that I sat in were GARBAGE. The interior is, by far, the worst I have seen in anything costing over $20k. Horrible gas mileage and questional build quality on top of that. If I had to do it again, I would buy a used 4Runner just like the one I sold about 2 months ago.

That was a GREAT truck.

Too much flash and not honest enough for me. I like the H1, as it's real. Instead of the H2, how about the GM SUV platofrm it's built on? Get a YukonXL / Avalanche / Suburban with your choice of engines and options, and save about $20k while getting more capability and utility.

See I am not completely crazy, and what is sad is that the Chevy Aveo, made by Daewoo in Korea, has a better interior for 12k the answer is simple, people buy the Hummer name as a status thing.

I don't think anyone who is a car lover would be caught dead in one of those.

Road Rash I know time is tight and dealers suck, but make a week of test driving every truck in that class during the week.

Its the easiest way to weed out crap, IMO.

Road Rash, I was seriously thinking about getting an H2 too. I was/have been looking at the H2's for the last 6 months. I think it really depends on what you are looking for out of the vehicle...

I wanted to get a truck for (1) towing my S2000 to shows and (2) something with 4WD for hunting. I owned a Ford Expedition for a few years so I kind of learned a few things from owning that SUV.

I like the styling of the H2 despite what others think. Also owning an H2 is a status thing. I thought it would look cool with a black H2 towing my black S2000. After I started looking at them I was a little disappointed with the amount of interior room and towing capacity I could get for the price. I have driven a feww H1's in the past and was always impressed with all the room in the truck. My company has employee purchase discounts with Chevy/Ford/Chysler so I can get a great deal on any of those brands. I ended up purchasing a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 about 1 week ago. The truck stickered for $37K but after all the incentives I picked it up for just over $27K. I couldnt get a 3 year lease on an H2 for $27K. It has more towing capacity than I would ever use and has an 8 ft bed (so I can throw just about anything back there).

At the end of the day do what you like, not what others like. If I was going to buy a high end, Tahoe size SUV, for driving around town, I would buy the H2. If you are looking for a practical/useful truck with 4x4 then dont go with the H2. You will get more for your money with a std pickup truck.

Just my .02

Pretty funny site. I would hate to be confronted in person by one of those people. Most seemed like cowards flipping of the H2 without the owner seeing it.

It's amazing how many of those pics were taken in California. It's funny but I was never interested in the Hummer while I was in Ca. But now that I live here and dont see very many of them It started to grow on me.

Yes I like the way it looks too. Especially the truck version. As for the status thing, well I'll admit thats part of why I like it too. I'm finally at the point in my life where I can afford impractical things. I'd say 80% of my desire for the thing is the bling factor another 10% utility. The other 10% is for personal comfort.

I miss having a vehicle with so much room in the front. I test drove one over the weekend and wow what a difference in interior width. It was even bigger than the Silverado I used to own. I was pretty dissapointed with the seats, they were el cheapo. I liked being able to see over most of the cars around me. I felt pretty safe in it. The thing has so much rolling momentum I would hate to see what it would to to another vehicle in a crash. Nav system was cool, I never had one before and its not an option for my S. Also If I owned my own buisness and was able to write off 20K this would have been a done deal this weekend.

But unfortunately I dont own my own buisness and it comes down to public perception of the vehicle. I would hate to have a vehicle where people are constantly harrasing me or flipping me off. Even worse I would be paranoid leaving it unattended in a parking lot for fear of others keying it or kicking the doors in. Been there done that and it gets old.

I would look at Chevy Tahoe or other SUV's but everyone and there mother has one of those. I want another car like the S, kinda unique and not seen every day.

Thanks for all the honest opinions. Moving on now to look at BMW.
