I wouldnt worry about public perrceptions. If thats what YOU want get it!!! I am still contemplating getting one for the wife when we upgrade her car later this year. BUT I would have to put some 26" spinner wheels on it!

If it had more room and towing capacity I would have probably got one instead of my RAM 3500. I also thought about buying a used H1 with high miles. I think the engines in those are a std Chevy 350. That would cost almost nothing to replace.....AND an H1 has definitely more BLING

I thought all the H1's were turbo-diesels.

I know the US military wants all their vehicles to use the same fuel, motorcycles, tanks, etc.

I drove two different ones when I was in WI. Both had Chevy 350 V8's in them. If they had a diesel option that would be even better.

Never driven one of those yet. I dont know if I could do without the creature comforts in the H2.

I am assuming it rides a lot harsher that the H2 also. I should have looked at one while I was at the dealer on Saturday. I might go back and look at one. If its nice I check out the prices on used H1's.

Just keep in mind that big interior is usually achieved by being "boxy". Boxy is pretty much square. When you have a "square-boxy" car/SUV rollover situations are usually not safe. The box will want to flatten...

I second the FX45 notion. I, for one though, may be going after a Magnum (yes, with a Hemi) when we start having kids.
Lol I like the Magnum concept. Big Power. But I just cant seem to see myselft driving a station wagon
