On Feb. 22 i'm shipping out to Missouri for basic training. I will be gone for 4.5 months. I have a 2001 Spa S2K, and am not sure if i should do anything special for the long storage. Will the car be fine sitting that long with Sta-bil in the gas, or should i have someone start it up once in a while? Will the car be fine on Jack Stands, or should i have someone drive it around the block a couple times a month. The car will be in Storage till July!

 

Clean it very well inside and out. Have fresh oil in the crankcase and a full tank of gas with Stabil in it. Inflate tires to 45psi. Remove the battery and keep it indoors. Cover and bid farewell for now!

 

Also use spearmint and/or peppermint leaves and pepper them in and around the interior of your car and vents. Rodents have allergies to spearmint and peppermint. These will ward off any rodents that want to take up a squatter's residence in your car.

Some will suggest using spearmint and peppermint oils, however, they stain carpets and the smell turns "stale" after a while. Stick with leaves, they are easy to pick up and readily found in your local East Asian grocery store.

I plan on keeping it in a non heated garage. I have about a half a tank now with stabil in it. So should i do an oil change? Also, will the peppermint leaves work for 5 months or should i have some one replace them? Would it be easier to ask someone to take it for a drive?
