Anyone interested in joining? Show the FWD RSX guys how it's done?
I might be game.

and BTW. everyone who didn't show up to BIR missed out. even with my mechanical problems I still had a blast. I never know how great my S was on the track. The extra power really put me way ahead of the pack. Jeff and Gary really knew how to handle their cars as well. I'm going to have to get some of those tires they are using.
What mechanical problems did you have?

My bypass valve off the comptech kit shattered. (it was a plastic piece of crap, I actually have a blowoff valve at my house I just need to get a custom welded manifold so it fits to the aftercooler) Then later in the day when it got real hot out the coolant overfill tank overfilled and I lost maybe half a gallon of coolant. I actually had planned to get a bigger radiator as well, I might go to fullblown today and pick one up. But even with those issues the car ran great. Even with having a giant hole in my aftercooler were the valve was supposed to go I was still making over 10lbs of boost and blowing past vetts on the strait away.

is anyone thinking about doing BIR on the 26th? I'll be up there. It would be cool to have some S's on the Donnybrook course. It's old school! and there's nothing quite like good exit speed coming out of turn 10...

I'm not ruling it out. but its a long shot. I'd probably be inclined to go if they split the day. Gary Curtis is trying this to see if they can attract more cars. I think a different crowd tends to come for the big show as the short course doesnt fit the big speed potential of the exotics and little guys like us are a nuisence.

I run in the advanced group, never had a problem with the faster, higher horsepower cars. I just let them pass, usually don't see them again for the rest of the session. I see why Gary might want to try the full day tho. Attracting a different crowd, etc. I actually don't care either way. It's good practice on both courses, each have their unique set of challenges. Split days are the best, though. best of both worlds.

I was kidding for the most part. Yesterday the advanced group was slower than usual making the S's more competetive. I imagine it annoyed many of them as they would gap us on the straights and we would brake later and close it in the corners. Until eventually, we were waved by or got a clean pass around T1-2. This doesnt happen so much on the big track. I personally need to pace other cars on the track as a point of reference (since I dont have a timer.) Otherwise I feel like I'm driving in circles.

Well yesterday I had Elite auto custom make me a blowoff valve manifold that would fit the comptech kit. I then picked up a racing radiator from fullblown. I got them both installed today. took awhile but they are in. Just have to get the air out of the radiator and try to tighten down the bolts on the blowoff valve. It was hard to get the bolts in for it with how it was designed.

Sorry to interject, but when did HPDE events become competitions and you had to worry about the S being too slow/not competitive? Sorry, pet peeve of mine. Carry on.

no one is competitive and no one cares really. we drive together as a group and we have a good time. you must be a purist. Enjoying your own rhythm and pace. We lead and follow. Its very enjoyable for us. When we're fast, if feels nice. If we're always off the gas letting people by it doesn't feel so nice. As far as the S being slow, I perhaps mislead you. My point is simply a matter of pride. If someone had a 100K+ car, they probably enjoy staying in front of us. Especially in the advanced group. perhaps I should have used the word fast and not competitive.

No, no, I understand, it just worries me when people think HPDEs are "races". I'm out on track with these people and don't want to subject myself to any unnecessary dangers. I just prefer everyone keep a cool head and focus on their driving and what is around them rather than how fast they are. I enjoy having a good time just like everyone else, but we all know how that one person can ruin the day for everyone.

When are you guys going to the track again? I'd love to get as many tracks under my belt as I can before winter hits.
