Thumbs up Stupid Check Engine Light

Today my check engine light came on and when it came on VTEC would no longer work

Anyways when I went to the parts store to have the code pulled this is what it said:

"Manufactures emissions control code"

I have never touched the catalytic converter or the O2 sensor.

I just erased the code and when I left the parts store the car was driving just fine and VTEC was back up and working!

Has anyone else had this same problem? Or any suggestions on why I may have gotten this code?

to see what mods I have look in my signature.

Thanks for any help/comments

when it happened to you did your VTEC stop working?

Also how long did it take for your light to come on since you last filled up?

because right now I am at little below half tank.

.......anyways I will go make sure she is on good and tight.

Sounds like a gas cap... I don't remember if it stopped VTEC from engaging though.

I don't remember about v-tec but the light would get cleared by a friend of mine (a pretty good wrench), then come back on again very shortly afterward. I replaced the OE with a fancy NAPA gas cap, and voila! No more light since.

Thanks everyone.......I am pretty sure it was the gas cap after all

When I went out to check it...it was tight but I don't think I made it click at least 3 times.....I put it on good and tight so hopefully all is good now

Vtec activation would not be disabled because of a evaporate gas leak or any such cap related light, unless the check engine light was flashing.

Was your check engine light flashing or solid?
