Alright, I get it now. I'm going to stay away from the politics since I didn't joint s2ki for that, but I'll voice my opinion from time to time once the changes are implemented, and as I become more involved in the community. For now, I'll just sit back and

See, even offensive terms can be a valuable/entertaining learning experience for our members!

I don't think anyone joined for the politics. Shit happens. Politics happen.

I suppose I've missed all of this developing here for awhile... but I am interested in the potential for some Indiana meets. I'm gathering by the original post that there aren't too many of us that want to meet in Indy?

[QUOTE=boostseekings2000,Mar 30 2010, 06:20 AM]1 person per state seems like so little, there should also be people running different areas chicago, north suburbs, west suburbs and so on.

[QUOTE=hecash,Mar 30 2010, 07:35 AM] Having been a member of both sites from 2001 until I dropped membership in the other 2 years ago, I'd be happy to give you my view on how the split occured and why it will likely stay that way.

Exactly.

I have thrown my share of RPG rounds over the years and found that closing a thread where civility is damaged in favor of a new thread with the same objective actually becomes quite fruitful.

I tend to agree with this as well...There is a balance for when locking a thread is called upon. I think Harry has seen his fair share of locked threads and heated discussions so you can judge when "enough is enough". A new thread offers the ability to "reset' and get back to the issues at hand.

Kamron, I think the title of UMW CO doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow geography. When I was Ohio CO, I didn't make many of the Southern Ohio events but I still maintained the title of Ohio CO. I did, however, keep an eye on the forum and make sure that things were running smoothly. I don't want people to get too hung up on the geography piece. UMW is a large group and because you live in Michigan doens't mean you can't chime in on dialogue in a Wisconsin event (and vice versa).

I think everyone has posted up some great suggestions and encourage the dialogue to continue...

Edit: I'm sorry Sam that I referenced the past as you asked that we not do, but I don't think its fair that the first to post or the loudest voices get heard and the others don't.
No worries, Kamron. What I was referring to was the previous thread where it turned into a somewhat bash thread, that was not the original intention of that thread, it got off track so I thought it best a new one was started to try and discuss openly what things people would like to see, or what changes members thought were necessary.

The history of this site and the people is very relevant to what we are discussing now, there were some really great times and great events organized by some really great people, we need to get that back. The demographic of owners has changed a lot since the S2000 was introduced, we must be able to welcome in the new owners and keep the older (not age) owners working together to keep this community united and growing.

I'm all for debate and open forum discussions, everyone needs to speak up so that we can all come together towards a common goal for the community. The CO's need to be able to work together and with the members help, get this community rolling again.

I appreciate everyone keeping a level head in this thread, I also like the feedback so far, it needs to keep coming.

Motoo, I respect your opinion and Harry's opinion, but I must emphatically disagree. You guys are right that locking a thread often will bring the appearance of greater civility, but all too often at the expense of quelling a particular viewpoint. There are times when I haven't expressed an opinion on a topic because the thread was locked, and I wonder how many valuable opinions are lost because of thread locking. I personaly believe that "get back to the issues at hand" is too often used as a proxy for "getting people back to my way of thinking". I very carefully selected the words "heated discussion" because I do agree that there are some limited circumstances that require locking a thread.

If enough is really enough, and people are truly then the thread is likely to die naturally. Actually, alot of decent threads die prematurely anyway. I've also lurked/participated in other forums that don't lock threads and don't seem to have this level of drama. That's all I really care to say about this, I've had my peace, and if others disagree with me, so be it, it's just my opinion, I'm not saying anybody elses opinion is worth any less than my own, and I may certainly hold the minority view on this. I certainly hold the minority view on alot of issues...
