Viper 791xv install?
Anyone know someone that will do an install of this alarm on my S? I had a guy lined up to do it for $100 on the side, but he ended up not having time right now. My problem is no one wants to wire one up to a manual tranny....
anyone out there that u guys know of in or around Chicago that can wire mine up for a decent price??
I need this ASAP as my car sits on the street most of the time, plus its cold this time of year, it would be nice to sit in an already toasty car

I am of the strong opinion that remote start units are wonderful things. I believe even MORE strongly that they should not be installed on Manual transmission cars.
1. If you leave the car in gear for some reason and try to start it, it will jump forward. At BEST this will cost you a new front bumper for your S, and a new rear bumper for someone else. It would be truly tragic if someone were walking in front of your car at that moment.
2. If you leave the car OUT of gear, you are relying on the handbrake to hold the car in place. This has been shown to be woefully inadequate. If you do some searches you will find many people who have found their car, not where they expected it to be, because it rolled away.
I'm sorry it's not 100% on topic, but strongly encourage you to reconsider a remote start.

I considered all of the above options and have weighed the pros and cons, and heres what I have come up with...although I do respect the criticism, as it is valid.
However, I have never left the car in gear since I've had it and never have a reason to; being in the city, most of the areas I park in down here, and in the suburban places I go are flat terrain. If I do have to park on an incline and leave it in gear, that would be a select situation and I would not use the remote start.
Another solution to this is that my buddy who is an installer (the one too busy and away, so he can't do it) fabbed his own in-gear sensor, which is basically (from what I have gathered) a sensor plate that detects where the shifter is, in turn determining if it is in gear, therefore not allowing the car to start. I would definately utilize this option, and planned on it. until he had some things come up.
Unlike many, my S is my daily driver, rain/snow, so I'd like to have a warm car in the winter, even for my 3 mile drive to work (As we know in the city that could take 15-20 min in itself
)
