Winter is a great season if you know how to utilize it properly. But I hate the daily work commutes. My S was a DD for about four years until I dumped a few more $$$ into it. Now it's all covered in the garage, and the only time I get to "enjoy" it now is when I fire it up once a month.

I used to be the crazy bastard who would drive it on new years day top down regardless of temp, and on the nicer days in Dec. and Jan go with the top down. My rule of thumb is that if the temp is at least 50 deg F, the top is dropped. Sometimes, I'll go colder, but I'll have a hat on for that.

What do you mean "cold and miserable"? Just add layers and you'll be fine. The "miserableness" that I feel and I think many of us S2000 owners feel is that the roads are in such crappy condition that we can't go one mile before our cars are pelted with gravel dug up by the plows, salt grime starts premature rust, and potholes that would dent a rim or blow a tire easily if not bottom the car out and ruin some suspension.

I'm not sure I'll be able to drive the S in the spring because of the construction . . . and milwaukee's DOT fixes roads by packing asphalt in the holes with a shovel (hand shovel mind you) and letting cars drive over it to pack it in. It spreads more tarred gravel than fills the hole.
Does this make any sense to you whatsoever? Really?

Just pathetic!

damn I cant believe so many people drive their s2k's in the winter. I can understand if someone doesn't feel like switching insurance from a beater to the s2k in the summer but damn its going to take a toll on it in the long run. I have stored mine last winter and this one and bought a a4 and am actually selling the s2k since in MN its hard to enjoy it like you can down south. I give credit to the drivers who have the balls to use them as DD's but damn thats one spendy DD thats going to add up miles and die sooner than later.

It is pretty rough. I haven't driven mine in two weeks. But this will be the only winter it goes through really. The 1 owner before me lived in FL with it. And this summer I'll be moving to VA for law school . . . and they don't really have much of a winter there either. I don't think 1 winter will do too much damage in the long run. If I was going to be here for more than one more winter though, I'd have bought a different car.
