Jack standing your car FTL. Your suspension isn't designed to be fully extended for days at a time.

I wonder how many people stop and think about how long their car sat on a ship from Japan to the US and how much longer it sat in customs and then how much longer it sat on a train or truck to your dealer... and finally how long it sat at your dealership until you took delivery.

The build sticker on my car shows Dec. 1999. I got her in mid-February of 2000. Schaumburg Honda got her one day before the wife and I bought her. It took maybe 60 days of sitting on her journey from motherland to the new world.

they dont' exactly sit still while being shipped. they are driven in to and off the shipping containers, then on the the truck that delivers to the dealers. during which time suspension does move so no.. you car did not sit still for 60 days.. nor did it not get driven.

They are actually shipped with shipping spacers mounted on the springs of all four corners. This allows for very minimal compression and extension when sitting prior to being loaded onto the freighter, on the freighter during its journey, during delivery to dealership, and at the dealership.

In fact, my car didn't get POI'd until I signed the paperwork. Those spacers didn't come off the car until I took actual delivery.

I'm known for being over analytical.

. . . I may need to leave it on stands just a tad longer anyway. The bank is peppering me with lack-of-insurance letters since I took it off full coverage. That pisses me off, and I have to make some phone calls to express how stupid full coverage is when the car will not and cannot be driven.

As an FYI guys, a little later today, I will be pruning this thread to keep the original info focused on Winter Storage and tips.

All the pruned posts will go into another thread that I'll label Winter Storage Discussion.

This is an effort just to keep the original 2+ year old thread clean.

Jacking up the car on stands while leaving the suspension in extension would/could dry out the internal gaskets of your suspension. When Spring rolls around and you get the car back on the road, you may notice oil leaks from the struts.
I believe this is why my rear struts are blown with only 23,000 miles on them. I'm storing on the ground this year and from now on.

Just over-air the tires and be done with. Or go to the junk yard and get a set of 4 donuts if you are really that woried about tires. As Urmil has pointed out, tires are much cheaper than a set of Mugen coilovers!!
