I use my heated garage....but one potential option/alternative for you is other s2ki members garages. I remember seeing in the past others have offered up a spot for less $ than a storage unit.
We offered storage here in heated, non crappy facility for a few guys last year. $125 a mo. 2 month min. some guys took the oppertunity for us to do some work on the cars since they were here too.

I could rent out half of my garage in the city as well for storage.

Anyone have space for me to keep some wheels and tires? I have to take delivery of the r-comps I won this year and they don't like the cold. I'm thinking heated garage or climate controlled basement - neither of which I have. Not sure how cold my garage gets.

You could store your wheels and tires at my place. I'll just keep them in my unit. If my roommate has a problem, he can:

What do you guys think about having the soft top locks engaged for storage? I've seen somewhere that people mention that you should leave the locks unlocked to not put as much tension on the top over the winter. If anything, I could just cover the slight gap with some towels or something so no bugs and etc get in.

There are two takes to this:
  1. If you plan to leave the car stored for the winter, then yes, unlock the latches. In my experience, you can just leave the latches unlocked but still in the catches. It'll relieve just enough tension on the canvas. If you do completely unlatch it, there's no need for stuffing towels in the gap. You'll have gaps at the windows or else where.
  2. If you at all plan to drive the car in the winter because we get a nice day here or there, you're probably better off leaving them latched and unlocked, or latched and locked. The reason, over an extended period, if the top is left down too long...it'll need to rest in the 'close' position so that the top can regain some of its pliability to fully close. For me, I've needed to sit the car in the sun for 20-30 minutes on a cold day just so the canvas can get some heat in it to stretch it.

Over the years, I've had no issue with leaving the top up and locked when the car sat for extended periods of time. Of course, down the road, I did take the soft top out...but there were no issues with it when I did.

Someone call FEMA!

I was taking out my stock intake last night to put in the new FauxMugen when I noticed some seeds at the bottom of the box. I know I thoroughly cleaned it not but two months ago - the car is in storage. Vacuumed it out, removed the filter and notice what looks like landscaping fabric in the Helmholtz resonator section (the tiny hole that goes to the box part near the driver's headlight). It was STUFFED full of seeds, feathers, fabric, leaves and all sorts of assorted nonsense. Yikes!

Need some D-Con!

I read putting Bounce sheets in and around the car helps keep rodents away. They don't like the smell or something like that.

Before turning the car on, check your exhaust piping as well....or you could just turn it on and cook anything that may be in there.

Wow..who'd thunk of all the places to reside in an S2000, the intake would be the spot. If I were to live somewhere in the stook, it'd be somewhere in the cabin or the soft top well area.

Pull the seats and feel around the carpet and under the dash...don't want anything jumping out while you drive or any dead carcasses up in there.
